Below are our two
Martin-style
acoustic guitars. The 00-model on the left is built by me and the
smaller 0-model on the right is built by Heidi.
This is nice couple with almost identical woods, to such a degree that many of the parts are actually slices from the same piece of wood. The tops are of Finnish spruce; the backs, sides, fingerboards, bridges and headstock faceplates are of Brazilian Rosewood and the one-piece necks are of Honduras Mahogany. You can hear these guitars in action in pieces "Fairytale" and "Stone Wall" on the Music page. This is a very
standard Tele, but the "Crackle" paintwork on the body is quite unique.
The base coat is metallic red paint on which I drew the cracks by hand
using a black drawing pen. The top coat is acrylic lacquer. The crackle
pattern becomes denser towards the edges producing a kind of slight
sunburst effect. Also the sides and back are filled with the pen
strokes, so it took quite a while to finish the job! But it paid of, I
think it looks quite nice.
And finally a couple
of Les Pauls. Again mine on the left and Heidi's on the right:
